Ten young people from Shetland received MV Awards for their volunteering with local community groups and projects within the local community. 

MV Awards are available to all 16 to 25 year olds in Scotland, and are supported by the Scottish Executive.  At Volunteer Centre Shetland's MV event in October 2006 Alistair Carmichael MP presented Awards to volunteers who had completed 50, 100 and 200 hours of volunteering.

Awards of Excellence for 200 hours of volunteering were given to Jennier Adamson, Murray Arthur, Barry Irvine, Daniel Robertson and Marianne Dare.
