Make Things Happen!
Are you aged between 16 and 25 with some free time on your hands? Keen to meet new people and have fun? Got skills you want to learn but don’t know where to go? Want to find a way to help others or pass on your enthusiasm? Want some experience to help you get a job or into college?
Does this sound like you?
If so, volunteering might be just what you are looking for. All you need is a bit of time, an open mind, and a desire to share and learn. You’ve nothing to lose and so much to gain – it’s a great way to enjoy yourself and make a difference to other people at the same time.
There are as many ways to volunteer as there are people!
If you would like help finding the right place to volunteer, or to talk through your ideas the staff at Volunteer Centre Shetland would be only too happy to help. You are under no obligation, but we might have just what you are looking for. Volunteering work is unpaid so it should not affect any benefits, and lots of placements offer expenses for travel so you don’t need to be out of pocket.
Volunteering already?
You might be working towards an MV Award without even knowing it! MV Awards (previously known as Millennium Volunteer Awards) are available for all 16 to 25 year old volunteers who have made a commitment of 50, 100 or 200 hours by volunteering. What a great way to prove your fantastic achievement and the difference you’ve made to the local community!
